Well, Today started off great! We had Sausage, Egg and Cheese Muffins for breakfast! Boy were they good! We learned all about the Ranger's role in camp after breakfast. I didn't realize just how much he did! After that, they handed out walkie talkies to some of the staff. I didn't get one, because I'm not a Director... Maybe next year...
I got to talk to the Shooting Sports Director today. Ray is REALLY cool! He told me that I could come up to the Range and shoot on my free time! Hopefully, I'll be able to get my Rifle Merit Badge this year!
After the morning training, we were assigned different work areas. Some got to put up tents, others got to help some of the Directors. I got to help Joyce today! Joyce is the Handicraft Director, and she is a lot of fun to work with. Here she is working on the Cub Scout program.
What was nice, is that Joyce asked me for ideas about things to do for Cub Scouts. I can't wait for them to get here! We get to dress up as someone from US History. I'm not sure who I am going as yet, I THINK I might be dressing up as Johnny Appleseed, but I'm not sure yet.
We had a Fire Drill this morning! Travis, the Camp Director got to sound the siren.
He said that if I did a good job, he might let ME sound it next week!
Its not all work though... I have made some new friends... Eric is a CIT which I just found out stands for Counselor In Training, The next picture is Craig. He's the Business Manager. I'm lucky... I get to work outside all day, but he has to do LOTS of paperwork... Poor guy... The last guy is Derrick. He is the Aquatics Director. He is one of the older guys, but he acts goofy, and likes to have fun. I hope I get to work down at the pool sometime this summer!
As I was going up to Lunch, there were a group of guys fishing up at the Warming Pond. Derrick the Scoutcraft director was fishing in a way I had never saw before! He called it "Fly Fishing". He was nice enough to let me get a video of it!
After Supper tonight, we had more training. We learned about the different types of personalities, and how to work well with the other types. I found out that I'm an Eagle!!!
We had another campfire tonight, and Justin, the Program Director told us that tomorrow night, EACH Patrol had to come up with 2 SKITS!!! I am excited! I just hope I don't mess up.
Anyway, I need to go to bed now... Can't wait for breakfast tomorrow... French Toast and BACON! YUM!!!
