Staff Week: Day 1

Wow! Today has been crazy!

This is my first day on Staff at Camp Mountain Run, and boy am I tired! When I got here, I first had to go get my Medical Recheck done... Chris, the Health Officer was pretty cool! Then I went and talked to the Business Manager, and he showed me how to fill out my tax forms... I'm glad my parents were there to help! Next, we had some free time. I got to meet and hang out with some of the other staff members. They all seem pretty awesome!

Next, we were to report to the Dining Hall at 6:25 for supper. Right before we ate, this big guy named Justin who is the Program Director, had us line up around the flagpoles, and we had to introduce ourselves. Justin then said grace, and we went inside! It was like a family reunion, everybody brought something different, and the Cook, Roberta made Sloppy Joes! They were AWESOME!!!

After Supper, Justin, told us that we were to meet at Heritage Circle at 8:30 for a campfire, and that our parents could stay too if they wanted to. We had over an hour of free time, so most parents did go home. We all went down there. The Order of the Arrow built a new backdrop that looked really nice!

Travis, The Camp Director started off the Campfire with this cool poem about Fire. It was really cool!

He had three other guys behind him chanting "Fire"

The next 45 minutes were spent singing songs and laughing at the guys who were up front! We all had a fun time!

Here's a picture of us singing this crazy Penguin song! It was pretty funny! Derrick, the Scoutcraft guy was the one who sang it. I want to sing it in the Dining Hall this summer!

Anyway... After all the fun stuff was done, the guys all came down and lined up and introduced themselves. The two other guys, Brian, and Aaron are going to be doing a lot of our training this week, and after every one said who they were, they started singing Scout Vespers. It was really cool how quiet they were, and how nice it was hearing the campfire crackling, and the birds. Travis then said we had the rest of the night free, and we were to be at the Dining Hall at 7:45 in the morning for breakfast!

Anyway, i need to go to bed now... Can't wait for tomorrow!
