I had SUCH a busy day! It is hard to believe that Camp opens for the Cub Scouts in THREE days! We have been working non stop. Before I started here, I thought it was easy being a Staff member. People don't realize just how much work these guys(and girls) put in. Not only do we have to work on our Program areas, but we have to go through a lot of training, AND we have to set up all the campsites as well!!! Today right after breakfast, we "set up" Crow's Nest Campsite. Setting up means, we have to arrange the heavy wooden platforms in almost a circle, level them up with rocks and cement blocks so they don't move up and down when you walk on them, set the tent up, make sure it looks good, put the cots in the tents, and put up the dining fly. What was cool, was today, EVERYBODY helped. It was nice working with everyone like that.
After Lunch, I got to help rearrange the Dining Hall. This was hard work. It wasn't as easy as I thought it would be. We had to make sure there were enough tables for every Troop all supper long. I was lost, but the Dining Hall Steward Jeff, and PD Justin, just sat down and figured it out. This is what it looks like now. I think it's cool!
After Supper tonight, Justin had us play this game. We all stood around the flagpoles, and Justing went around tapping us on the back. What he was doing, was putting name tags on our backs! The object of the game was to find out what name was on our back. The names ranged from Barney Rubble, to Lady Gaga. We were allowed to ask "Yes or No" questions only! My name tag said "Smokey The Bear". I wasn't the first one done. That was Derrick the Pool guy! He had Jane Jetson LOL! After I guessed mine, I took some pictures...
After about 5 minutes, Justin said that if anyone wanted a hint, they had to make silly faces... Well, here are some of them!
Tonight's campfire was all songs and cheers. We had a lot of fun singing tonight, but Owen and Kelly did one of my favorite songs, "Topnotcher". I was lucky enough to get a video of it.
Tomorrow night, we are combing everything we have learned this week, and having a "Dress Rehearsal" of sorts. I hope to have lots to show tomorrow! I'm going to bed now... I need my sleep, so I can keep working! :D
