We had a great week, and here are some highlights. Troop 46 won the Volleyball Tournament, and Dutch Oven Cook Off. Troop 36 won the Quality Campsite Award. Troops 28 and 46 tied for 1st place in the Campwide Games. We had 5 Scouts earn the Polar Bear Swim, and 3 earn the Mile Swim. It was a great week to be here at Camp Mountain Run!

Thursday Week 3
Thursdays are a little different here at Camp Mountain Run than the rest of the week. On Thursday, the whole camp cooks in their campsite. This serves a few purposes. It makes the Troops more able to cook, it gives the Kitchen staff a well deserved break, and it gives the Staff a chance to bond with the campers. Because of the Troops not attending Colors ceremonies and Troop Reports every meal, Thursdays are a lot more relaxed around camp.
Here are some pics throughout the day...
There were SOME activities going on though.
This is a picture of a Scout from Troop 404. He is showing me his targets that qualified him for Rifle Merit Badge.
Here's a scout who is just enjoying a soda...
Next are some Troops eating their meals at their campsites...
The night ended with the Dutch Oven Cookoff. The crowd judged the entries, but the ultimate judge was Travis, the Camp Director.
First was a Chocolate Dessert from Troop 404
Then the entries from Troop 11... Peanut Butter Bread, Chicken Pot Pie, and a "Pineapple Upside Down Cobbler".
However the two items that got the most votes, were Troop 46's Texas Hash, and Triple Berry Pie.
After tasting and more tasting, Travis declared the winner to be the Triple Berry Pie!
Week 3 Wrap up next!

Johnny Appleseed
Wednesdays are very busy here at Camp Mountain Run.
Not only do we have our normal activities going on...
BUT we also had a visit from Harry!
Wednesday is also OA day here...
Even Harry got in the OA action!
But for me... The biggest reason why I like Wednesdays so much, is because I get to sing the Johnny Appleseed Grace at lunch. Not only is it Mark's favorite grace, but mine too. For those who don't know it, the lyrics are:
Ooooooooooooooh,
The Lord is good to me
And so I thank the Lord
For giving me the things I need
The sun and the rain and the apple seed.
The Lord is good to me.

More tomorrow!

Tuesday Week 3
More fun on Tuesday.
Every week, we have been lucky to have Scouts playing instruments at camp. This week the bugler from Troop 46, Donavan Allen, came "Old School" and had a complete Boy Scout Uniform from the 1960's on.
That evening, Troops 35 and 11 also had the Flag Ceremony...
This Scout here wanted to show me his sculpture for Art merit badge... Somehow I don't think Joyce, the Handicraft Director will approve it...
This evening, I went to COPE, and watched 2 people go up the climbing wall.
Then I went to the Pool to watch the 1/2 Mile Swim...
Than onto the Firebuilding Contest!
All in all, it was another GREAT Tuesday!
