Week One Wrap Up

Well, the first week of Boy Scouts just flew by. We couldn't have asked for a better way to kick off the Camping Season. Today, while the Scoutmasters did the paperwork for the Scouts Merit Badges, there was a Camp Wide Game held. In years past, they held an "Iron Scout" Competition. This year, we went a different direction. The Troops were sent on a Signature Hunt. Basically, the Troops were to collect as many Staff signatures as possible. However, there was a twist. Not only were most Staff not where they usually were, once found, the Troops had to either answer a question, or demonstrate a Scout skill in order to get the Signature. It ended up to be a lot of fun for both Staff and Troops alike. The 1st and 2nd place Troops were only separated by 2 signatures, and the winners were... Troop 26 from DuBois PA! They collected all but 4 signatures for a total of 218 points!

There were still a few Merit Badges being wrapped up on Friday. The Emergency Preparedness class got to try on a Fireman's suit.

And the Signaling Merit Badge still had some Semaphore work to do...

All in all, it was a great week. Troop 28 from Warren OH, won the Leader portion of the Dutch Oven Cook Off, while Troop 9 from Clearfield PA took home the Scouters entry. Troop 28 also won the Quality Campsite award as well!

We all had a great time this week, and are looking forward to the next few weeks!

Thanks to all the Troops who came. Troops 9, 26, 29, 50, 56, 83, 93, 99, 101, and 28. It wouldn't have been the same with out you!

Next, onto Webelos Week!

See ya in a few days!
