Day 2 of Webelos

Today, The boys have been super busy! We started off with my favorite breakfast here at camp... Breakfast Pizza!!! The song this morning was led by Squirrel, The Trading Post Director. It was "The Birdie Song". It was great seeing the Leaders do all the motions and sing along.

Each Campsite has been set up with a schedule and a rotation for the different areas. Today's program areas are Swimming, BB Guns, Handicraft, Nature, Fishing, Scout Craft, and First Aid.

I started my day up in Scout Craft. Derek, The Scout Craft Director was showing the Scouts how to build different types of fires, and what their uses were for.

From there, I stopped in at the Warming Pond to see how the fish were biting.

After that, The Nature Area was taking each campsite around for a Nature Hike. Matt, the Ecology Director would point out various trees, and plants, and show the Scouts how to identify them.

Next, I visited Joyce and Bob in the Great Hall at Walker Center for Handicraft. They were learning about the history of kites, and how to make them.

From there, I walked down to Gilmore Lodge and visited Chris and Fuzzy at First Aid. They were showing the Webelos basic first aid, and showing them what to do in an emergency.

Next, I ended up on the back porch of Hallstrom Lodge. Ray, the Shooting Sports Director was showing safety videos on proper use of BB Guns, and Rifles. This allows the Webelos to earn their Shooting Sports Pin instead of their Belt Loop.

Finally, I came to the pool. Here they talked about PFD's and other means of lifesaving.

All in all, it was a very fun, hot, and busy day. Everyone had a safe and fun time, which is the most important thing.

More tomorrow!
